When I convinced myself to start losing weight ASAP, I started with reading almost any kinds of diet that gives you the guarantee that you will lose a lot of weight in a short period of time.
And so it happened that I came across this diet called: “The 3 Day Diet” which basically means: “Lose 10 Pounds in 3 Days”.
This diet claims that you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days. I know.
The first thought that will come up in your mind would be: “HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE” the question that follows shortly after in your mind would probably be “is that even true?”.
So in this article I will give you my thoughts on this “lose 10 pounds in 3 days” diet. Whether it is plausible and if it is possible to achieve the claimed benefits.
It claims that you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days.
So because of this it may also be called a crash diet.
This because it basically comes down on taking fewer calories a day as you normally take in and in this way you can lose quite some pounds.
After these 3 days you can go back to your normal eating habit again to switch again to the 3 days diet after 4 days of normal eating where the cycle will repeat itself.
In the three days of the 3 days’ diet you will have to stick to a strict diet regimen where you may only have between 750 and 900 calories per day.
The average number of calories that you need per day for men is 2500 and for women 2000.
During these 3 days, the body will have less than half of the necessary calories.
The 3 days diet consists of a number of principles, which you must follow.
You can drink as much water, coffee and tea as you want, but you can not add any milk or sugar. It is recommended to drink a lot of water, to properly get rid of the waste in the body.
You will have three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks are strictly forbidden.
There are a number of variations in the 3-day diet, but these are in accordance with the reduction of carbohydrates and fats. Below you can read a nutrition plan, seen by many as the right way to follow this diet.
Nutrition Scheme 3 Days’ Diet
As stated, the nutrition program a strict diet over 3 days, which should therefore be followed exactly for best results.
On the first day you take for breakfast a toasted multi grain bread, where you can add peanut butter on. In addition, you can take one half of a grapefruit. Coffee and tea you can have plenty, but as mentioned without any milk or sugar.
In the afternoon you will have again toasted multi grain bread, with 60 grams of drained tuna. And of course coffee/tea if needed.
In the evening you can take 250 grams of vegetables of your own preference, although it is recommended to have 125 grams of fresh green beans and 125 grams of fresh cooked beetroot.
In addition, take about 100 grams of lean meat, such as lean chicken or roast beef. Furthermore, for dessert you will have 120g vanilla ice cream and an apple.
On the second day you take for breakfast once again a toasted multi grain bread.
You can take one boiled egg and half a banana. Coffee, tea or water you can drink again as much as you want.
For lunch, take 5 crackers and 120 grams of fat cheese or low-fat cottage cheese, and coffee or tea.
In the evening the dinner consists of three sausages from a can +/- 200 grams of fruit (preferably broccoli and carrots) and half a banana. For dessert, you can take 60 grams’ vanilla ice cream.
On the third and final day of the diet your breakfast consists of 5 crackers, 100 grams of fat cheese, an apple and coffee or tea.
For lunch, take a toasted multi grain bread and a boiled egg, and coffee or tea.
In the evening, take about 250 grams of vegetables of your choice, but preferably fresh cooked beetroot and steamed cauliflower.
In addition, you may have 60 grams of drained tuna in a can, and for dessert a part of watermelon and 60 grams’ vanilla ice cream.
So after reading the diet. How does it sounds to you?
I am not trying to convince you of a certain point, but merely try to give you my insights based on what I know of weight loss and healthy eating.
To be honest it doesn’t sound like that much fun to me. And rather like a Spartan method of living.
So let’s go the advantages. We can say one of the advantages is that its period is relatively short.
So that means that you can probably stick to it. The nutrients mentioned are pretty basic and simple and shouldn’t be hard to find.
Now, the disadvantages. The first that comes up in my mind is that I am not so sure if you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days.
Because yes the way of eating is pretty good and is guaranteed for weight loss. But if you want to lose that MUCH of an amount, it is certainly necessary also to exercise a lot.
So besides this points another point that I want to mention is that because this diet is so short, the easier it is to fall back in your old pattern of eating.
Which basically is not the thing that you are searching for…..
So what does that mean? It means that it will be quite easy to gain weight after these 3 days.
Therefore, in my opinion it doesn’t sound very good as a diet in my opinion. If you want to find a strategy that you can apply for the rest of your life. Whenever you want. Wherever you want. Why do I say this?
Because of this diet, a lot of people will just continue with their old eating pattern and probably eat like a pig for 4 days only to suffer and eat only the bare essentials for your body for 3 days.
As I mentioned before in other articles, I always say that losing weight should be fun and challenging, but it should not be a Spartan way of living, which is cruel and horrible (sounds like a lot of old diets).
If you want to lose 10 pounds in 3 days I find that it is possible to lose a lot of weight in 3 days with this methods, but 10 pounds it is truly a lot.
And losing that much in 3 days wouldn’t be healthy at all.
